Flickering as feeds are refreshed
As each feed is updated, there's a bunch of flickering, which disrupts the ability to read any feed.
Does this happen when new items are being added to the current view (e.g. because you are in All items folder)? Or do you mean that it happens even when the current view doesn't change (e.g. when you are viewing a single feed and another feed has just been refreshed)?
It was happening wherever I was within brief, but I can't seem to replicate it, so it could've been a bug in nightly. I'd suggest marking this as invalid for now.

I'll leave this open for some time. Please report if you encounter this again.
I have the same problem: When brief (version 2.0a1 with Ubuntu 13.10) updates the feeds, the site refreshes with every updated feed which results in a sort of flickering. It seems that this only occurs if the updated feed is not empty.
Edit: The last sentence is not true; the flickering occurs with every checked feed. To reproduce it, start Firefox, open Brief immediately and refresh all feeds. After the first refresh of all feeds, no more flickering will occur during the current Firefox session. Also, if you open Firefox without opening Brief and wait for a certain time during which the feeds are updated in the background, everything is fine and there will be no flickering even if you open Brief later.
In summary: after the first refresh of all feeds Brief behaves as expected, the first refresh in a new session will cause problems if Brief is open.
