This doesn't seem like it would be too hard to port, and the JRuby version would be line-for-line almost exactly the same as the CRuby version.

I can help with the port or try to do it myself. The former would be best since I'm not familiar with the library.

This is a direct dependency of Discourse, which I'm trying to get working on JRuby.

I'm unfortunately not a great "maintainer" for this as I should have noted it's essentially unmainted somewhere. I'd archive this repo, but I'd be ok accepting and reviewing pull requests for future development. I just don't have the time myself right now :\

Do you know anyone who might be interested in taking this on?
