Add typescript typings

How would you like the typescript typings handled for this project? Something like DefinitelyTyped or something local to this repo or something else? References would be good if a certain standard is preferred. I would ❤️ to see this as well.

I would defer to the expertise of someone more knowledgeable than myself :) - In the past I have found DefinitelyTyped a little easier to manage - and the similar flow-typed project for flow is something I depend on daily in other projects.

Still waiting on PR. I am open to any solution that benefits TypeScript users 🤷‍♂
