Making messages fade-to-deletion after a certain amount of time

Hello, I, like many streamers, sometimes stream to very few people (I stream because my SO enjoys watching, I don't really care for a crowd lol), and as a result, have little chat activity.

As a result, though, it's a bit awkward to see a single message in my chat box for an extended period... like 45 minutes straight.

Would it be possible to add a feature/config value that allows messages to fade-to-black/disappear/dequeue them after X time? If it would help, I have written this exact code before for other stuff and it's fairly simple, so I can just hand it over if it would make writing this easier.
