How can I use just the trim without the expending option?

I thought this would do it

        app:showTrimExpandedText="false"

But I actually see no difference wheter this is set to true or false. I want the user to be redirected to another fragment when clicking the text without it actually being expended, is that an optin? How can it be achieved? Great tool other than that, thanks!
