CPU usage goes crazy on Chase.com landing page when Fingerprint Protection enabled

Open jaxidian opened this issue 7 years ago • 8 comments

Description

When navigating to the Chase.com landing page (no login/account necessary), it seems to peg the a full CPU core when Fingerprint Protection is enabled. Disabling that and the page loads normally without pegging a CPU.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Enable Fingerprint Protection
  2. Navigate to https://www.chase.com/
  3. Watch a CPU core be used nonstop by the page until you close the tab

Actual result: 2018-01-09 13_39_22-task manager

Expected result: This can be reproduced also in a private tab, so it does not require any cookies or other prior activity.

Reproduces how often: 100% of the time

Brave Version

@jaxidian, @Tomatoshadow2, and @kperi: can you all confirm that this does not happen in Chrome?

jonathansampson avatar Jan 11 '18 02:01 jonathansampson

@jonathansampson I have confirmed this does not happen in Chrome on Windows 10 Version 63.0.3239.132 (Official Build) (64-bit). My Chrome install I tested is running Ublock Origin, LastPass, & HTTPS Everywhere plugins.

With fingerprinting protection on in 0.20.29 and 0.20.30, the login form doesn't render on chase.com.

The issue persists on 0.23.19. I can confirm this does not happen on any other browser I've ever used. Very much specific to Brave.
