FDM extension on Brave not working

Description

"Free Download Manager" extension on Brave does not work.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open Brave
2. install the extension from "https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/free-download-manager/ahmpjcflkgiildlgicmcieglgoilbfdp?hl=en"

Actual result:

The extension does not work and it always shows "Loading".

Expected result:

Not to show "Loading", Show the options and catch the downloads automatically to download them in FDM app.

Reproduces how often:

Always

Brave version (brave://version info)

Brave | 1.15.75 Chromium: 86.0.4240.99 (Official Build) (64-bit)

• Does the issue resolve itself when disabling Brave Shields?

I can't reproduce this. Can you provide some details? Are you sure you have FDM installed? Which FDM version do you use?

The issue is still there even with the latest releases FDM Version : 6.13.2.3510 Brave Version : V1.18.78

Update 1: My problem is caused by FDM failing to start. FDM hangs or freezes on startup.

I found solution : follow this thread link here

• manually copy this file from ~/.config/google-chrome/NativeMessagingHosts/org.freedownloadmanager.fdm5.cnh.json to ~./config/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/NativeMessagingHosts/org.freedownloadmanager.fdm5.cnh.json. Don't forget to restart Brave browser.

Okay testing this, Installing the extension by itself will get you "Loading". Uninstalling extension and installing the applicatiopn, then re-install the extension is fine.

The extension relys on the application to be installed first. Should be safe to close this report?

Also the Hasn't been updated since 2021,.

i've resolved my issue by removing unnecessary escape characters in the configuration file. Edit the file ~/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/NativeMessagingHosts/org.freedownloadmanager.fdm5.cnh.json

FDM Window Focusing Issue on KDE Plasma 6 with Wayland

Description:
I'm facing an issue with Free Download Manager (FDM) after switching to Wayland with KDE Plasma 6. When I try to download multiple files, the FDM window does not focus correctly if an FDM window is already open and I switch to another program.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open a browser and start a download.
2. The FDM download window pops up as expected.
3. Minimize the FDM window or leave it in the background while switching to another program.
4. Attempt to download another file.
5. The FDM icon gets highlighted in the taskbar, but the window does not come to the foreground.
6. I have to manually click the FDM icon to bring the window into focus.

Expected Behavior:
The FDM window should automatically pop up and gain focus when a new download is initiated, even if the window is minimized or in the background.

Actual Behavior:
The FDM window stays in the background, only highlighting the taskbar icon. It does not gain focus automatically.
