Feature Request: Integrate Crypto Firewall into Brave Browser’s Filter Lists

Summary

Request to integrate the Crypto Firewall project (https://github.com/chartingshow/crypto-firewall) into Brave Browser’s built-in filter lists, specifically within the brave://settings/shields/filters section.

Description

Currently, Brave Browser’s filter lists do not include any specific cryptocurrency block lists. With the rise of crypto phishing, crypto malware, banking malware, infostealers, and other threats, there is a growing need for robust, specialized protection for users engaging with cryptocurrency.

The Crypto Firewall project offers a comprehensive suite of resources and tools designed to fortify cryptocurrency trading activities and systems. It provides:

  • Cutting-edge best practices
  • Robust scripts and configurations
  • In-depth security guides

The main focus is on:

  • Blocking browser-based crypto mining and cryptojacking attempts
  • Thwarting banking and crypto malware
  • Identifying and preventing access to phishing websites and malicious apps
  • Disrupting hackers' command-and-control (C2) server communications

Implementation Suggestion

  1. Integrate Crypto Firewall Filter Lists:
Add the Crypto Firewall filter lists to the brave://settings/shields/filters section as selectable options.
  2. Multiple Versions for Performance:
    The project offers four versions:
    • Lite: Minimal impact, suitable for low-powered devices.
    • Full: Comprehensive protection, suitable for most users.
    • Mega: Extensive coverage, suitable for high-powered devices.
    • Beta: Includes all stable and unstable modules, for testing and feedback. Users can select the version that best fits their device’s performance needs.
  3. Easy Access and Awareness:
Currently, users can manually add Crypto Firewall to Brave using the instructions in the GitHub repo. However, integrating it directly into Brave would increase visibility and adoption, making it easier for more people to benefit from enhanced crypto security.

Why This Matters

  • Open Source and Free Forever:
The Crypto Firewall is 100% open source and will remain free. The developers, who make their income from trading a crypto hedge fund, do not rely on this project for revenue.
  • Proven Protection:
The filter lists block a wide range of threats, including crypto phishing, crypto malware, banking malware, infostealers, and more.
  • Performance Optimized:
The different versions allow users to balance protection and device performance, ensuring a smooth browsing experience for everyone.

Thank you for considering this feature. Integrating Crypto Firewall into Brave Browser would provide users with powerful, specialized protection against the growing threats in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
