Unable to deselect the uBlock default filters - What happened to Brave adblocking philosophy?

Open Kees1958 opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

In this great article Brave explained the cost of stale adblock rules https://brave.com/blog/the-mounting-cost-of-stale-ad-blocking-rules/

It is sad to see that Brave does not allow me to disable the notoriously polluted uBO filters and the near useless (due to its 12 hour update cycle) Online Malicious URL filter (which are either dead or blocked by Google safe search)

Request: I can image that I can't disable the Brave and Easylist filters, but please allow me to disable the useless filters marked in red

Or alternatively: only use Brave and Easylist filters in standard mode and enable the other filters in aggressive mode

These aren't "bad maintened filters" https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/tree/master/filters. All files are updated often.

I also don’t know whats wrong with the "Online Malicious URL Blocklist". Yes a malware takedown time below 12 hours would be cool... the reality can be days, weeks or even month. Just because the base domain throws a "404" or "don’t found" it doesn’t mean there is no malware on a specific URL.
