Toggle Options Pane button is unclear

Since 1.4.1, the bar includes a button which allows to display the options pane.

In 2.2.1, the button uses a wrench icon, which is usual. However, that icon is hard to recognize. I saw it at first, but failed to understand its role, guessing that it represented a key.

Several changes could mitigate:

1. Adding color. A silver icon would more clearly fit with a wrench. Having the handle in a different color than the rest would also prevent interpreting it as a key.
2. Increasing size. I have a 32 inches screen with 2560x1440 resolution (without scaling) and the icon is unclear, but I when I see the second screenshot in #306, it's clear.
3. Using a different wrench icon?
4. Using an icon other than a wrench, such as a cogwheel

However, the most effective improvement would be to remove that button or make it less necessary, as discussed in ticket #371.
