In the afdko.rb, the readlink utility is used, which comes with a "-f" option to obtain the full path of a symbolink. However, it's not the default behavior of the readlink utility of macOS. In fact, what is needed here is the GNU readlink. One can install the GNU version using Homebrew. The name of readlink installed in this way is "greadlink".
