Automap player statistics
I think this has been brought up in the past, but multiple source ports have the ability to check how the player is progressing to 100%ing the map, with monsters killed, items collected and secrets found all being listed. Could be off by default.
I've been considering this. But there is also the playerstats
CCMD that has all that info (and more). What I may do instead is change the playerstats
CCMD so it comes up as an overlay on the screen rather than output to the console, and then it can be bound to a key.
Maybe it would be quicker to implement playerstats
always opening the console if it isn't already open?
Even then - the output is a bit long and requires scrolling. How about a ps
CCMD that has the exact same stats but in a more compact form, like MON 11/82 MAP 90% SEC 1/5
etc for the current map, and psa
in same format but for overall?
This has been implemented.
I wasn't sure how you turn this on, so for the benefit of anyone else: close the DOOM Retro app, then open the doomretro.cfg file in Notepad and change the "off" after "am_playerstats" to "on". Or while in-game, press the key above TAB to bring up the Console, type am_playerstats true then hit ENTER.
- NOTE: to bring-up the Console the manual says to press the "tilde key", ~ , but this key isn't in the same-place on different keyboards around-the-world. Here in the UK, tilde is on the key above RIGHT SHIFT, and pressing it doesn't open the Console. The key you want is the one between ESCAPE and TAB in the top-left area of your keyboard.
Sadly though, while you can make the kill, item and secret stats show in the Automap, there doesn't appear to be any-way to make them also appear during gameplay, as some other source-ports offer. Hopefully the developer might add this in future?
