Let users write and edit templates

Open scoskey opened this issue 13 years ago • 1 comments

Currently, wordpress installation administrators can create their own output templates using papercite by creating new files in the templates directory, and naming them in the papercite administration panel.

Unfortunately this workflow doesn't make sense for users who can't log in to the server. For them, it would be better to be able to edit the template code directly from the administration panel.

(So for example, you could replace the filename textbox with a larger textbox. If it is left blank, the default will be used. But if it is filled out then this code will replace the default. Alternatively you could allow the user to specify a URL where the format file is.)

Echo on this. I am using the bibtexbrowser php code to maintain a big bibtex database on Wordpress. The bibtexbrowser code has a lot of useful functions and allows users to define their own css styles to show the references on html pages. If papercite can be compatible with the bibtexbrowser code and reuse the self-defined css style file, that would be super nice. Reusing the bibtexbrowser code may also save you some time and attract more users from the community to the papercite plugin.

Hopefully this helps.
