uninstall and reinstall seems to be a work around.

Same issue. If I uninstall and reinstall how do I make sure I don't lose my database? When I switched from my Samsung to Pixel recently, I had to reenter everything because the app couldn't find my database.

I don't see an easy way in the app to find the full path name. I found no difference if I had the password file open or not. On my phone, I think it is in the default location, the file is located at <Internal Storage>/keepass/keepass.kdbx

Before anything else find the database file. Make a backup copy to a cloud storage location like dropbox or google drive (whatever you trust) using any file manager. If you don't have a file manager, install one. Making copies can be done manually or automatically. I happen to use Dropsync to copy it to Dropbox every Sunday.

Removing the app did not remove my database file. Uninstall and reinstall should be fine. After reinstall just find your file if the app can't find it automatically.
