How to improve index speed

We have 10000+ repo,now I find that the index speed is particularly slow,how can I solve it? I set number_git_processor=2,because when I set up to 5,gitlab can't hold it

How large is the repository on disk when checked out? What sort of hardware are you running the system on?

Is this the first time it has run the index? Subsequent should be much faster as they rely on file times to ensure its much faster.
