Install Issue - Help Requested
THIS ISSUE CAN BE CLOSED!
For a non-techy, I finally figured out the after 'hostname" there needs to be space after semicolon and a space after sh and beflore /. For coders, I am sure you think I am an idiot. But as a non-coder who spent 3 hours attempting to install, and formatting two USB drives and reading every post, it wasnt intuitive to me.
Maybe other non-coders who cant get to point where boxee light turns red can gain value from this post. My final syntax (remove word SPACE and insert a space) for hostname:
boxeebox;SPACEshSPACE/media/BOXEE/install.sh or boxeebox; sh /media/BOXEE/install.sh
Now installed and looks GREAT!
I have read ALL instructions and am unable to get to point where light turns red. Anyone willing to review below and comment is appreciated. Attempted:
- two different thumb drives, format to NTFS and tried FAT32. Full format, not quick
- Install files (not folders) are in root directory
- Thumb drive name is BOXEE (all caps)
- Boxee Box reads thumb drive and acknowledges it's there (can also map to it in "file sources"
- Hostname is boxeebox and have boxeebox;;sh/BOXEE/Install.sh
- Accessing internet fine and can navigate to network workgroup and even to thumb drive
Nav away from Servers, to out, back in, reboot, and no change. Please review configurattion below and let me know: I really want hack as box almost always wont power off and want other enhancements. Thanks to all for creating... just hope I can use it!
