Should be able to click Done checkmark while in Archive/Done folder to Un-archive an email
I think the way it worked in Inbox was that the Done checkmark icon was still available, but clicking it would send emails back to the Inbox / unarchive them. Right now, the checkmark icon button is visible but disabled.
@russelldc If you take off the theme it's the same thing with normal gmail. Looks like gmail doesn't offer this feature right now and didn't think it through.

When you tick an email, or open it, in the top toolbar there's an option to Move to -> Inbox. This functionality could be copied over to the checkmark.
Found a reference gif of Inbox from earlier this year, showing the Done folder. The Done tick should turn to Green when in the Archived/Done folder. Right now it's disabled gray. If not too difficult, along with the change in functionality, the tooltip should also switch to Move to Inbox. I'm confused why the Gmail devs haven't already done this work... Why have a disabled Archive button when you're in the Archive?
Speaking of which, here's a specific button found in the existing UI that does Move to Inbox, rather than the reference to the Move to -> Inbox menu action I mentioned in my last comment on this issue. It's found in the Sent folder, when you tick an email:
