Demo page
Is there a demo page to see what features there are in, such as RSS etc.
The project is abandonware and the code hasn't been touched in seven years. If you have any luck getting it to run on modern versions of python let us know.
There is a commit for basic RSS Atom support.
Thank you.
I might have someone to revive it. Hopefully sooner than later.
For record, OTR appears to run habu. See https://otr.im/
I would have no problem reviving it, in fact I thought about doing so a while ago. I'm just not sure why would anyone decide to use a little Python generator when there are mature options like Hugo and such. Thoughts?
Thoughts?
Software is a form of speech and opinion
Reasons for several software for (almost) the same purpose.
- Check and balance against the so called popular.
- Freedom to express. [1]
- Protect our will.
- Some might want Python, some might want Ruby.
- Some might think that RSS as a default is essential, or (here is an issue to focus on) RSS at all is unneeded (or be incentivized [2] to state that they think so).
The latter "RSS at all is unneeded" is what I want to realize below:
Having another website generator will contribute to:
- More personal communication with the developers.
- Such more personal communication would facilitate adding new features that might at first sight not be significantly usable, but once are implemented, many other would copy those features.
- If there would be more website geneators with issue trackers of hundreds of tickets, essential features might be added in years after or be ignored.
- Giving more power to people instead of multi-million vendors enforcing their will on people. [3]
- Avoiding the lousing tactic Embrace extend and extinguish. [4]
Speaking of which, see the arguments and software selections for RSS Readers and Website Generators in the userscript Newspaper [5] (install, open an rss feed, and click on the right button with three vertical dots).
[1]: Express the people who use the software more than the developers of the software. [2]: Some may refer such incentives as legal bribes, albeit unethical. habu is not only a software, it's also a voice and a defender of power and will of individuals.
