Plans to update for compatibility with Textile 3.7.1?

Open ghost opened this issue 6 years ago • 10 comments

What a great renderer you've created! Thanks so much for the efforts!

Do you have any plans to make it compatible with Textile 3.7.1? Some features of 3.7.1 appear not to exist in earlier Textile releases. Endnotes/auto-numbered notes are a good example.

I'm not a coder so I appreciate all your work, whether you update this tool or not!

I've stumbled onto this as well. I've been using a different parser meanwhile but if this were to be supported, it'd be a welcome update for the VS Code extension by GehDoc.

@borgar: any chances this may happen?

the VS Code extension by GehDoc.

Link for convenience: https://github.com/GehDoc/vscode-textile-preview (and their fork of this parser, https://github.com/GehDoc/textile-js).

The maintainer may be busy. I guess this is a good excuse to try learning JS.

This should not be hard to add. The current focus has been to update the internals of the library (https://github.com/borgar/textile-js/pull/69), but that is almost ready. Since pushing that requires a major version update it would make sense to add this as well.

It would be a lot easier to do this if I had a list of the missing features. I am aware of only two missing things:

  • Endnotes: https://textile-lang.com/doc/auto-numbered-notes
  • Alternative syntax for definition lists: https://textile-lang.com/doc/definition-lists

Are there other things missing?

I'll try and take a look.

What I found apart from your list:

Comparison from the live editor on your website: image

This should cover all of it. Sorry if these are already opened issues.

Thanks a lot, this is great work! I've gone through the list and it looks very manageable.

Broken down into issues: #72, #73, #74, #75, and #76

Your website seems to be down so I couldn't test one more thing but here's another feature that is noticeably different from most (MD) parsers I've encountered.

The link in the readme was incorrect and GitHub has stopped redirecting, I've fixed it: http://borgar.github.io/textile-js/ should work.

Ah, looks like it already works. Thanks anyway! As a gentle reminder, the endnotes feature also seems to have similar functionality of being able to write after the footnote is inserted.

Also, are you Ewan McGregor's body double? If so, how's the Kenobi filming?
