This would be a nice opportunity to provide richer email content, such as group and user avatars.

Hi @coldacid - Thanks for the ping! I'd forgotten that this was done and was sitting here unreleased. IIRC, it's working fine, so you could deploy on your own site if you'd like. The remaining task is to build the upgrade routine, so that emails are installed at the time of upgrade to 1.4.

I've flagged time to look into this next week. If anyone were to send a PR before that, it would help move things along :-D

It's a lower priority for the project we're working on, so I won't be switching over right away anyway. If 1.4 comes out in a week or so that's just fine here. Thanks for the update!

Hello, we needed this feature as well, and I didn't see the code available anywhere, so I went ahead and made this change and created a PR. This version will automatically create the BP template email from the default template if it doesn't already exist. Seems to be working well, let me know issues.
