can't read books in personal shelves

Open tnntwister opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

I have created 8 personal shelves, and put my books into them. now there are indicated as being in one of my personal shelves. if i go to homepage, my to-read block is empty. if if go /user//books/to-read, the list is empty. if i want to move my book in the to-read section, it asks my for a new begginning date, ignoring the saved begginning reading date for the book. i can see in the book page the saved date.

design comment : to-read, reading, etc shouldn't be shelves but workflow status of a book, in my opinion.

That's an interesting idea to make to read/reading/read workflow states rather than shelves.

You can have the same book on multiple shelves, and you can also manually add reading dates in addition to the dates that are automatically added when you use the reading progress buttons. That is the source of confusion (it is confusing!)

To add a book to "to read" or "reading" when it is already on a personal shelf, go to the page for the book itself and select a reading status from the dropdown on the lefthand side. This will add the book to that reading status shelf (so it will be on two shelves simultaneously) rather than moving it.
