Goodreads as book provider?

Open DanCardin opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

In contrast to movies/tv, where unreleased content is still tracked/available, it seems like books in OpenLibrary only has already published content?

Perhaps people preemptively add stubs, i wouldn't know. But inside goodreads, I can see both upcoming books as well as self/unpublished content like web-serials.

Given that there doesn't appear to be a way to manually add books, it just leaves me unable to search/track content that I know exists/have read.

(postfix, installed the software overall just this morning. Very much appreciate it, thanks!)

Goodreads doesn't support API from 2020

As of December 8th 2020, Goodreads no longer issues new developer keys for our public developer API and plans to retire the current version of these tools. You can find more information here.

ahh nurts, an obvious thing i ought to have checked in retrospect.

suppose manually adding books (or alternatively scraping individual goodreads links) to add books that dont exist in openlibrary? Although I can certainly imagine that being a can of worms...
