simplification idea

There are config settings:

  • DATABASE_PATH for sqlite3 only
  • DATABASE_DATABASE

potentially could remove the path setting and expect the database name to include path in config. This has the potential to be easier/less config ... there are arguments to be made for the reverse ;)
