MS Surface Pro cameras unrecognized

I'm using Howdy on Linux Mint, but in the IR check the emitters never turn on and the installation aborts. I typed every command correctly and the drivers are up to date according to Linux Mint and Windows.

Can you see the IR webcam feed in cheese? That would be a starting point, to isolate whether it is a drivers, v4l, or app issue.

OV7251 on IPU3 bus is not supported: https://github.com/linux-surface/linux-surface/wiki/Camera-Support And Howdy does not support libcamera (if we ignore the loopback hacks) @djrscally was at some point working on both but not sure if this effort is still ongoing.
