Thanks for your very detailed report! Some lockscreens have a rare bug where they will crash if a PAM module prints anything to console, using the fix suggested by @ralphocdol...

Are you locking your screen first and then sleeping? What is your lockscreen program?

This is an annoying one, using `--break-system-packages` should help but it's really not the clean way to do it. Maybe a venv for Howdy would be better
