All UI animations are sped up

Open tunbridgep opened this issue 3 years ago • 8 comments

While the game runs fine at the correct speed, the UI and menu animations are very sped up. So far I've noticed:

  • my character idle animation in the character select screen
  • the in-game hand animation
  • the "Entering the blood moor" and other area text (it disappears almost instantly)
  • The animation for making the horadric staff
  • a few other things I've probably forgotten

Is anyone else having the same issues?

I had this issue also, at least the super fast character selection screen. Turning nofpsfix=true in the settings, which disables the FPS fix, solved this issue for me. I have another mod, Basemod, which includes an FPS fix -- and the combo of D2DX with the Basemod FPS fix actually runs the game amazingly well on my machine. I suspect that Basemod's implementation of an FPS fix is better than whatever D2DX is doing -- and it fixed the super fast character selection screen.

I'm playing with Project Diablo 2, so I can't really use other mods.

I appreciate the suggestion though.

Playing without the fps fix makes d2dx pointless in my opinion, it's by far it's best feature.

Since it's purely an interface issue, I'm not going to stop using d2dx, but I would definitely still appreciate a fix

Note that there are two config settings, nofpsfix and nomotionprediction. I'm saying that when I turned nofpsfix=true and left nomotionprediction=false then I had even better FPS results, and the character selection screen was fixed.

But won't it still run at 35 fps with that setting turned off, so the motion prediction will do almost nothing?

Other mods will remove the cap. So for me it's Basemod, for you on PD2 it's the maphack. Baked into that is an FPS override. Or if you are playing online there is no FPS cap anyway.

Hiya. I was using BaseMod as well, but after disabling it I can confirm that this also happens on its own.

What do you mean by pd2 maphack? Does that mean removing BH might help it run better? Because it runs great for me for 20 mins and then it starts getting choppy/ reverts to 30 fps, I’ve tried so much and nothing fixes it. Might have to try basemod

Also on PD2 with plugy. I fixed the crazy hand movements somehow
