CoNLL format - Open Bracket

Hi, Thank you for creating these conversion tools. I'm new to CoNLL, and I'm confused about the write_chains method in conll_transform.py. Could you please explain a little bit about the differences between the close bracket and the open bracket here? Many thanks.
