What is the state of this project?

Nothing seems to have happened since the end of 2010.

Is this project dead? If so, please state that in the readme.

It looks like it was discontinued in favor of https://github.com/bnolan/diaspora-x2 which looks quite calm as well, unfortunately.

http://www.diaspora-x.com/ belongs no longer to this project. Seems like an Asian company has bought the domain.
