Email settings, and test - no way to define ports and protocol

I have used test email settings, and have couple of issues to address:

1. The smtp setting is missing configuration parameter - encryption transportation flag. I tried both methods with two different accounts, and no confirmation account was received.
2. There is no way to see if the application attempted to send the email, which makes it even more difficult to debug the problem. No response to the user interface doesn't help either.

Email is not a feature that is fully completed or connected yet. I only have the storage of credentials setup. IThe rest is on my backlog.
