@bmaroti9 Good day and thanks again for the application, but will widgets in the style of Android 15 and 16 be added?

Hi! This is clearly a duplicate of #11. I have made some progress on widgets which i will share later in that original issue. You can add the material style android 15-16 idea to that one, though i don't even know what the difference really is compared to previous android versions.

@bmaroti9 Android 12,13,14 are Material You, and Android 15, 16 are Material 3 Expressive

RomanK2311 avatar Jul 12 '25 16:07 RomanK2311

Oh, okay. And how does a material 3 expressive weather widget look like? I mean isn't material 3 expressive in beta right now? I didn't know there are weather widgets in that style currently.

@bmaroti9 Image Original Google Weather Widgets https://github.com/Efimj/MobileWeather

@RomanK2311 is this material 3 expressive enough?

@bmaroti9 This is insanely beautiful please add these widgets to your apps

RomanK2311 avatar Jul 17 '25 13:07 RomanK2311

@RomanK2311 This is already in the app :) This is a screenshot from the version I'm working on.

bmaroti9 avatar Jul 17 '25 13:07 bmaroti9

@bmaroti9 I'm waiting for this 🙃

RomanK2311 avatar Jul 17 '25 14:07 RomanK2311

@bmaroti9 I really love Android and programs for it, but I can't program. I've always been interested in how widgets are made.

RomanK2311 avatar Jul 17 '25 14:07 RomanK2311

@RomanK2311 yeah lol I didn't know how to make widgets either till about one month ago when I started reading a bunch of tutorials, and finally figured it out. It's not very complicated with native kotlin, just getting it to work with flutter is much more tricky.

bmaroti9 avatar Jul 17 '25 15:07 bmaroti9

@bmaroti9 Are widgets made in Adobe or in Android Studio itself?

RomanK2311 avatar Jul 17 '25 17:07 RomanK2311

@RomanK2311 in android studio itself. it's coded in jetpack glance, so they are fully working and everything, not just a mock-up.

bmaroti9 avatar Jul 17 '25 17:07 bmaroti9

@bmaroti9 I'm waiting for the new version of the application and thank you for your answer :)

RomanK2311 avatar Jul 17 '25 19:07 RomanK2311

@bmaroti9 I'm looking at widgets in Android 16 right now and I understand that the future has already arrived... I'm watching about Jetpack Glance on YouTube right now....

RomanK2311 avatar Jul 18 '25 08:07 RomanK2311

@RomanK2311 Cool! So you're going to be learning jetpack glance?

bmaroti9 avatar Jul 18 '25 11:07 bmaroti9

@bmaroti9 In the future I already think yes, for now there is no possibility to update the PC, but soon there will be such a possibility, so yes

RomanK2311 avatar Jul 18 '25 12:07 RomanK2311

@bmaroti9 I already want to see the new version with widgets :)

RomanK2311 avatar Jul 25 '25 21:07 RomanK2311

@RomanK2311 yeah so do I. Unfortunately I'm currently in a one week camp without my laptop. So when I get back.

bmaroti9 avatar Jul 26 '25 06:07 bmaroti9

@bmaroti9 Have a great time at camp :)

Would love the radar to be as a widget

HonestAbe7 avatar Jul 29 '25 01:07 HonestAbe7

Yeah, I wanted to do that too, and I had the radar code and everything set up but then I realized that I was using the static lat lon maps from rainviewer, and that one worked however I also would need a static basemap to go underneath that, which I was unable to find a free API for, so I just gave up. If anyone knows a free static baseman API I would happily add it.

bmaroti9 avatar Jul 29 '25 04:07 bmaroti9

@bmaroti9 Your app is awesome, and many people like it on the play store, and the theme with widgets is a hot topic :)

RomanK2311 avatar Jul 29 '25 17:07 RomanK2311

@RomanK2311 yeah I know lol. I keep having to reply to playstore reviews asking for widgets every 2 days. But hopefully not for much longer...

bmaroti9 avatar Jul 29 '25 18:07 bmaroti9

@bmaroti9 I'm also waiting for the new version, I'm really looking forward to it :)

RomanK2311 avatar Jul 30 '25 12:07 RomanK2311

@RomanK2311 So i was basically about to release a widget beta today, but then i noticed that the app size has basically doubled, which doesn't seem normal, so i'm basically trying to troubleshoot whats taking up some much space.

bmaroti9 avatar Aug 05 '25 18:08 bmaroti9

@bmaroti9 Hi, You can upload it to GitHub first to have a look, then to PlayMarket and upload it to GitHub as alpha version. :)

RomanK2311 avatar Aug 06 '25 19:08 RomanK2311

@RomanK2311 that's what I'm planning to do. But first I still want to fix the APK size. It seems like starting from a totally new project and then copying the files back in seems to fix the problem. I guess the old one had bloated files in it somehow.

bmaroti9 avatar Aug 06 '25 20:08 bmaroti9

@bmaroti9 Thank you, I will wait for the new version and yes, I will rarely be on the Internet for now, so our connection and Internet are being turned off....

RomanK2311 avatar Aug 09 '25 10:08 RomanK2311

@RomanK2311 I've just released the widget beta, if you want to try it.

bmaroti9 avatar Aug 10 '25 09:08 bmaroti9

@bmaroti9 Let's try to post it here and I'll download it.
