Release new version
I noticed that this repository has been updated to version 1.2.10 (https://github.com/bmaltais/handyLock/blob/master/handyLock/handyLock-Info.plist#L20) and the expiration date has been updated to 2026 (https://github.com/bmaltais/handyLock/blob/master/handyLock/DebugOutput.h#L56). Can you release a new version on http://www.netputing.com/applications/handylock/ and/or in this repository?
A new release on netputing.com would be especially useful as a confirmation of sorts that this is the legitimate code for handyLock and not some malicious program pretending to be handyLock - not that I really believe that's the case, but it's good to be a little cautious when dealing with new code. (It would also earn a donation from me!)
Hello diazona,
I understand your concerns regarding the source code. I compiled a fresh copy of the application and was able to sign it with a new Dev App ID cert. You can download it from:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/netputing/handyLock/handyLock+v1.2.10.zip
Let me know if it work fine for you.
@albertyw I have taken handyLock down from netputing at the moment given the little dev activity I have done on it... but you are welcome to grab the copy from the link above and use it. With OSX 10.11 Apple has introduced unlocking of OSX from an iPhone and I think this will probably answer most users needs in this regard in a much more integrated way.
@bmaltais I tried the new version and it seems to work fine. I was also able to compile the source code myself. (This download doesn't actually address my concerns about authenticity, not that I'm particularly concerned about that.)
For what it's worth, the whole reason I found handyLock useful was that it allowed locking and unlocking with any Bluetooth-enabled device. I don't have an iPhone.
@diazona Glad it is working. You can always check authenticity by checking digital signature on the application.
I hope making the source code available will inspire others to improve the application. I made it more as an experiment and I have not touched it in a year... so time for others to pitch in.
Well, thank you for deciding to release the code rather than letting it disappear entirely. :-)
If I may offer one last suggestion: leave a link to this repository from the original page on netputing.com. I'm sure people will continue to come to that handyLock page through web searches or recommendations.
