It seems to ignore the cause of the exception when airbrake is notified

Is that intentional?

I expected to be able to see the full Backtraces in airbrake from (ex-info "more contextual error message" {} cause).... Am I doing something stupid?

Full backtraces are sent to airbrake.. at least that is the intent and my experience with the library. :) The data from ex-info isn't sent and I have #12 open for that. You've probably ran into a bug where the stacktrace parsing blows up. Can you reproduce the behavior in a test?
