Customizable Collections for Organizing Posts by Topics

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Yes, the current limitation within the Bluesky Social app is the lack of a more organized way to save and categorize content that users find interesting or wish to revisit. Currently, users can only like or favorite posts, which places all saved content into a single, undifferentiated pool. This makes it challenging to efficiently locate, organize, or share content based on specific topics or interests. I often find myself frustrated when trying to find a post I liked or favorited because they are all lumped together without any categorization.

Describe the solution you'd like

I propose the introduction of "Customizable Collections" as a feature within the Bluesky Social app. This feature would allow users to create multiple, named collections (e.g., "Tech Innovations," "Travel Destinations," "Favorite Quotes") where they can save posts based on topics or interests. Managing these collections should be straightforward, enabling users to add posts to collections via a simple "Save" button on each post, and offering the ability to move posts between collections, rename collections, or delete them as needed. Additionally, implementing privacy settings for these collections to be either public or private would give users control over who can see their curated content.

Describe alternatives you've considered

An alternative solution could be allowing users to tag their favorited posts with custom tags or labels, could serve as a simpler way to organize content.

Additional context

The ability to create and manage customizable collections could significantly enhance user engagement and satisfaction by making the content discovery and sharing process more organized and personalized. Public collections could also serve as a new avenue for community building and interaction, as users discover others with shared interests. This feature aligns with Bluesky Social's vision of fostering a decentralized, user-centric social media experience by empowering users to curate and share their interests in a more structured manner.
