blokada won't resolve local domains
Actual behaviour
When Blokada is active, DNS lookups for local domains (using shortnames) will fail with, lookups of FQDNs will succeed. ping somehost: NXDOMAIN ping somehost.localdomain: OK
Expected behaviour
Lookups would succeed regardless of Blokada, as long as the system has a valid domain name at hand. ping somehost: OK ping somehost.localdomain: OK
Steps to reproduce
- install Blokada
- configure Blokada to use default DNS and no fallback DNS, then enable it
- connect a wifi network via DHCP (server should supply a domainname, ".lan" or whatever
- ping a known local host by its shortname: it will fail
- ping same host by using its fullname: it will succeed
Configuration
- Blokada version: 4.5.2
- Device model: Moto G5SPlus (XT1805)
- Android version / ROM: Android 8.1.0 (OPS28.65-36-14)
Questions
-
Do you know about recent updates (for example system update, security patch update)? Last OS update was august 2019

How often does this problem happen to you? All the time
Additional information
- this is similar issue 183: I am unsure if this is actually the same because I have no intention of using Cloudflare or any other custom DNS, I'm fine with the one supplied by the local network
- router is running OpenWRT 19.07.2 and the DNS server is "Unbound" (running in parallel mode)
- screenshot of relevant configuration
Still relevant in 5.11.0
