Feature request: adding a password option

Open ArT92s opened this issue 6 years ago • 10 comments

I've been using Blokada for several months so far on my android phone and I'd like to thank you for developing this awesome app. Actually I also use Blokada as a site blocker for distracting websites. However sometimes it is very easy for me to just turn the app off and waste time anyway, making all my efforts useless. I would appreciate it very much, if you could add a password option, so a password is required to turn Blokada off.

Hi, Did you request the same feature in another ticket, in #314 ?

I was curious because the text was matching 1:1.

How hard would it be to implement this feature and any idea about a time line or is there anything I can do to help expidite it

Another interest in adding a password is for children. Indeed, using Blokada with DNS like OpenDNS FamilyShield is a good way to protect kids. And a password to prevent them from modifying or stopping Blokada would be great.

This password protect suggestion came across my mind today. Glad to see some talk about it. Will be setting up my 13 year old daughter phone tomorrow and think this password thing is great idea. Had small amount of issues with my 2 son's and their phones years ago with them exploring the internet version of Sears catalog. Maybe add it in with the paid version or a separate one time extra add-on feature fee.
I have very little knowledge coding, however I'm willing to contribute beer, pizza, and money to help.

Resurrecting this issue. I totally see the interest of having a password, or at least having to solve a logical puzzle or wait a few seconds, or just type some long text, before I am able to disable it. It would help blocking distracting websites. I have no knowledge of your code base and am not a developer. How much estimated time would it be to do that? I guess depending on what it takes we could fund developer 's time collaboratively.
