I want TOR Integration
Hi dev, I'm aware of your recent concerns about a VPN integration into blokada so that it not only blocks ads. I've completed the in-app survey already. But the idea struck my mind later on that why can't we add TOR support. Its strong, based on donations and that'll keep this app free as it is. The only VPN apps that I use is blokada and orbot, if 2 can come together it'll be great. Already orbot is open source so I think its possible to integrate it. Thank you.
This actually seems like a good way to keep things free, and have a optional TOR switch
Exactly, I don't know a lot about VPNs, but what can be stronger than TOR? IDK. A very few android apps out there provides us tor support, orbot and protonvpn according to my knowledge, out of which protonvpn provides tor servers after you pay for a subscription, but here, if the app gets tor support, it'll VPN + ad blocking.
@kar, is this possible? I would love this feature!
Just add a proxy settings feature(redirect traffic to socks/http proxy),and start orbot without turning vpn mode on.So that we can just set redirect traffic to socks 9050(orbot default),or we can build a proxy chain. That's amazing if possible :)
Edit: And add a hint to user to tell users to download orbot, disable vpn mode in orbot then start orbot.and configure socks 9050 to redirect traffic to tor.
@Sak94664 will this method you mentioned work? Previously I had tried to use adguard with orbot, there's an inbuilt feature, followed exact steps but there was lots of errors, specially on orbot's end, already orbot gets disconnected is background a lot, the circuits get closed and after I open the app new circuits get formed and it starts working again. Doesn't matter whether you're network is strong and I'm sure it doesn't get killed in background.
I tried with firefox beta with switchyomega, and I redirected traffic to socks://127.0.0.1:9050 It works well for me.(using meek) And orbot can display persistent notification to prevent it from being killed. :) (just make sure there's no aggressive cleaning tools. If so, just add orbot and blokada to the whitelist)
@Sak94664 I know that orbot has a persistent notification also it doesn't get killed, the problem is that the circuits get closed sometimes after using then after opening the app, new circuits form. I've a 4GB DDR 4 RAM and I let a few useful services run in background, neither do I clear recents nor do I have an aggressive ram policy or task killer etc. BTW thanks.
Bump to request v4 integration also?
