Dark mode gets lost on first Win11 start

Theme switching

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. unpack Goose 1.12.1 zip
  2. Start goose.exe: see the goose UI start up in dark
  3. go to settings -> app
  4. Suddenly displays in light theme until i select "dark mode" or system (again)

Please provide following information:

  • OS & Arch: Win 11 (Default Dark mode for UWP)
  • Interface: UI
  • Version: 1.12.1
  • Extensions enabled: defaults plus tutorial
  • Provider & Model: tetrate claude-haiku-4.5

I think this is fixed in:

https://github.com/block/goose/pull/5427

so it should be good in the next release. or you can build from main and verify

Not sure it flashes me again, I guess I have to delete the .goose dir to rest the settings. Does it not remember itself in registry? I will report back if I can reproduce it and if it’s fixed in next build. Thanks for researching it.

goose desktop is an electron app and so it stores this in the browser (localStorage)

I deleted %APPDATA%\Block\Goose and retried, but the problem did not re-appear, it stayed in "system" theme and that one stayed dark.. so this one is not reproducible.
