Blinking cursor in bottom left & incorrect Smart Keys layout on iOS26

Configuration

Blink v18.3.2.1010 iOS 26.0 iPhone 16 Pro, have replicated on iPad M1 w/ iPadOS too

Describe the bug

An extra cursor appears in the bottom-left corner of my Blink terminal space on the latest iOS/iPadOS26 releases. Attaching a screen capture of the behavior, which appears as soon as I open Blink app "fresh" (look right above the Esc button on the keyboard). It's quite distracting 😆

@briann if you fill a terminal with text and switch between them do you also notice that part shifts up and leaves a black space under the text? And sometimes the top row of shortcuts (for lack of a better word - where the ctrl key is, etc) also separates from the keyboard?

Yep, thanks for reporting both. The good new is although I didn't create an issue, I was aware of that from the last betas.

I have fix that will work in 99% of the cases, and although the blue cursor will show up on new terminals in some cases, it goes away after switching tabs.

I have a full fix for all of these, but it depends on a new interface that I'm working on for the next big Blink version (probably calling it 26). I was able to port some of that code back here, which will be released as Blink 18.4, a bridge version to fix issues from iOS26 and support new devices.

Should be out today/tomorrow.

Any update on this one?

As mentioned before, I have new keyboard code that fixes all this and will be available on next Blink 26 (or whatever we want to call it). The patch on 18.4 should work most of the time though (rarely you may need to switch tabs as there could be a sliver of a cursor showing, but should most of the time).

That's great! Do you have a timeline for Blink 26?

I'd also be curious to know if the empty area at the bottom of the screen (where the erroneous cursor appears) can be removed so that the app is truly fullscreen (as it was when I last used Blink way back in 2017!) — sorry if completely unrelated to this issue:

(I'm using 'Cover' layout — although find that neither 'Fit' not 'Fill' layouts make a difference — in iPadOS 26.1 in 'Full-Screen Apps' mode. EDIT: layout modes now take effect on iPad Pro M5 in v18.4.2.)
