Ability to update add-ons installed by this importer add-on based on @benkl's idea
@benkl I like the journey you have proposed. I am not sure if BlenderID should be implemented right now as it serves no purpose for the current setup. If in the future Blender Depot introduces paid add-ons, then we may think of integrating some sort of authentication.
This is for sure no pressing issue. In the long term it could improve adoption of BlenderID and Blender Depot and signal a close connection to the community. You are right in the current setup this has no place, but this could be a way to facilitate package sharing and expansion in the future (adding additional addons without replacing/rebuilding everything). Users and tutorial makers could link to a Blender Depot package link on their Blender Depot Profile. In a distant future Blender Depot could be a part of the default addons and provide package manager functionality to workspace presets from third parties. Just dreaming.
@benkl Thanks for the positive outlook towards the future of this platform. We really need user-submitted add-ons integrated into the platform to make all this happen :smiley: And I can't wait to implement it!
