Add BMW Motorrad App as a Navigation App like in the Android App

Unfortunately, Apple doesn't provide a way to launch another app, they require the developer to implement a launch URL scheme.

I've emailed [email protected] today with a launch URL feature request :)

Response from BMW:

Dear Keith,

Thank you for your e-mail. We much appreciate your critical scrutiny of the BMW Motorrad Connected App and the Connectivity. The comments we receive from the users are particularly important to us since they provide us with valuable reference points for the continuous improvement and development.

We have now passed on your comments to the appropriate product marketing department, where every suggestion and criticism is studied carefully. We hope you will appreciate that, due to the large number of suggestions we receive, we are not able to give you any feedback regarding the possibility of realizing your suggestions.

Please accept our thanks once more.

Kind Regards, Steffen Kraft

A possible workaround is to use a shortcut. Shortcuts can be invoked via url scheme, and it can accept the shortcut's name as query. I believe it's something iOS 14 only (I don't remember if 13 allowed the launch of other apps), but it's a step towards the right direction. These shortcuts can also be shared (and probably embedded in the app), to allow less technical users a "one-tap-install".

@mcomisso Interesting, thanks for the info. I'm not an iOS user and can miss these details. :)

It's alright! :) I develop for iOS on a daily basis, I might know a trick or two :D

Another workaround for this app, is to use the following ID as scheme. appcenter-000f18bf-de54-49dc-8080-aa82a098096e://

This will launch "Connected".
