Thanks for reporting! Few questions: - are you taken to the accessibility settings screen to enable droidVNC-NG there? - do hotkeys like Home etc show any response?
I suggest reverting the driver update and look and the xinput output for this case. Also, asking at their side is maybe also an approach... Sorry, no better ideas.

Closing as this seems to be a driver setup issue and is not actioanable from Gromit-MPX side...
Thanks for reporting. That might be an Android security feature. Can you try with alphavnc and TeamViewer and check if they work?
