The Republic of China (ROC) is the official government of Taiwan, and while the ROC still claims to be the rightful government of the Chinese mainland, China is actually governed by The People's Republic of China (PRC). Two different governments. Meanwhile, the PRC claims that they own Taiwan and refuse relations with any government that acknowledges the ROC as an official government.
