README.md needs to be less Windows-specific

Developing on a system that doesn't use Windows-style backslashes or have AppData\Roaming, the README.md file doesn't seem to be entirely in line with the steps that would be followed by a Linux (or Mac) user.

The majority of our users are Windows-based and they are also the most likely to need exact instructions. If there is significant variations in the steps that should be performed for Linux and it's not obvious, you could always a section for Unix, or add inline differences where necessary for Unix and Mac users if the differences are small.
