The people behind this project unfortunately don't publish build instructions and don't answer to all the issues people post about build errors, such as https://github.com/bitpay/wallet/issues/12019#issuecomment-1082166994 and my latest attempt to compile the app at #11748 failed as well

I had similar issues and decided to use Ubuntu on Windows VMware. I eneded up using Node 12.2.0. And sudo apt-get install build-essential helped with the npm install issues
