Describe the bug Since the latest upgrade to Sequoia 15.6.1, volume control no longer has any effect (except muting if really low). The driver seems to be working and loaded, because the equalizer does have an effect.
Steps to Reproduce
- Select a digital output (in my case a CalDigit digital output)
- Adjust volume using keyboard shortcuts or the volume know on the UI
- Use the equalizer
Expected behaviour The volume change should impact the digital output (that is the whole reason for me to actually use eqMac), and it did with earlier releases of macOS. However, no perceptible volume change occurs, except that the output is muted when reaching zero.
The equalizer should apply to the digital output, and it does.
Setup information:
- CalDigit Thunderbolt 3 Audio
- Optical cable to external amplifier
- macOS Version: 15.6.1 (this was working with the previous release I had installed)
- eqMac Version 1.8.11
- Driver version: v2.6.0
- eqMac UI Version 5.3.0
Screenshots or Console.app logs
Did run Console.app and apply filter for eqMac and volume but nothing shows up. Without volume it's too chatty, shows every foreground / background / resuming message.
Additional information Had it working the day before, so I strongly suspect the system upgrade is to blame.
Same here. Audio is not working with external monitor (USB-C) with 15.6.1. With 15.6 everything was ok.
Complete reinstallation fixed the problem for me.
Edit: only worked one time. After disconnecting and reconnecting no sound over usb-c
@Joeknx Same observation here: reinstalling fixed the problem until I changed the output (switching to headset). After returning to the original audio output, it automatically shifts to the [Name of output] (eqMac) output, e.g. External SPDIF Interface (eqMac) or Speaker (eqMac) in my case (the two outputs given by the CalDigit), but then the volume control does not work.
I am in the same boat as previous commenters with the same experience.
Same for me
