Bug: Output device auto select doesn't work after wake

Open RyanBarclay opened this issue 1 year ago • 8 comments

This has described in another ticket but incorrectly labeled https://github.com/bitgapp/eqMac/issues/801

Describe the bug It looks like there is a bug related to when eqMac get's polls it's inputs. As such will not auto switch inputs when plugging in audio devices when computer closed. In order for it to work expected will have to plug in all my peripherals with laptop open and on.

Steps to Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behaviour (feel free to change the placeholder as you need):

  1. Select auto select for some audio Built in speakers: A, Display Port audio / Monitor: B
  2. Set B to have a higher priority than A
  3. Have only A available, ie B not plugged in
  4. Close macbook
  5. While closed plug in B
  6. Wake laptop to use in clamshell mode by using mouse or some other peripheral.
  7. Audio will still be on A and not auto swapped to B.

Expected behaviour When I plug in B and wake laptop, the audio should auto select to B

Setup information:

  • Audio device used for playback: Macbook speaker A and Monitor: Dell U3818DW
  • Audio transmission interface: USBC -> USBC
  • macOS Version: Ventura 13.2.1
  • eqMac Version: v1.7.10
  • eqMac UI Version v4.6.3

Hey @nodeful just wondering if bugs, like this, are still being tracked via Github or if there is another place to report / roadmap bugs.

I also have this issue. I tend to connect my HDMI output (along with power and usb-c hub) from my Macbook Pro prior to opening the screen. It won't auto-switch without disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI.

+1, Macbook Air in clamshell mode with Thunderbolt connected to external monitor won't switch to the correct output automatically.

+1 for me too. My M1 Macbook Air (closed lid or open) with Thunderbolt connected to external monitor won't switch to the correct output automatically. Defaults to internal speakers.

+1 here. Would love for the app to auto switch device to my external monitor once connected.

Currently it switches to internal speakers when disconnected and stays that way once the external monitor is plugged in again.
