Tally in main application that auto creates triggers

Open hadphild opened this issue 11 months ago • 5 comments

Is this a feature relevant to companion itself, and not a module?

  • [X] I believe this to be a feature for companion, not a module

Is there an existing issue for this?

  • [X] I have searched the existing issues

Describe the feature

Tally in the main application. Add a swither and cameras / tally. In the switcher inputs assign the camera or Tally box. Then it auto-creates the triggers or something else. This could be a wizard or part of when you add a module to assign the inputs and feedbacks. This could also apply to PTZ controllers. feedback

Usecases

ATEM PTZ RP150 8x UE150

Tally turns on / off when using setting up what input are assigned to each input also preview. This could also apply to Aux on the mixer as well. Also if multiple mixers are used Tally would also apply to all cameras if requested.

Can you make this a sponsored core part

  1. I'm not sure what exactly the scope of this request is. Companion can get the on-air status of several devices or their inputs and provide it as a variable or feedback. Both can be used to drive a trigger. This can be used to switch tally or UMD. Depending on the devices this process or the parameters involved is highly individual. E.g. one mixer may report inputs as numbers, another one may report on-air as a boolean per input, another one may report strings if it is a red tally or a green tally. The tally devices are controlled by actions, which are not standardized in any way. A wizard would only be useful to create a range of triggers where everything is ever the same and only one parameter changes from trigger to trigger. How many tally triggers do you have to create? How often do they change? I think maybe the effort for creating such a wizard is not worth the result. And if we are coming up with a tally solution, I think it should also be able to work with crosspoint matrices, so one is able to have a upstream matrix and still get correct tally.
  2. What do you mean with "sponsored core part"? Do you want to sponsor this feature and are looking for a developer to pick it up?

More the idea of if you add a ATEM (Can set Tally information) and a camera (Module saying this can Receive Tally information) that can take Tally. Then in the Vision mixer you can set which input the Camera is put in. In this case HDMI 1 has a UE 150. Then sends the Red signal. If in preview sends Green.

On sponsorship, I think it's good for anyone who is best to pick it up and get the best features inside the application. Tally is very useful for talent and BMD has dropped the ball on some of there products. I just want to get companion to fix these faults but all it to all vision mixers and cameras that can support it. IE vmix pushing out to inputs.

https://opencollective.com/companion is the sponsorship site for companion and I would like a feature that would require a major feature to be crowd-funded.
