Ability to change default text when variable is undefined

Describe the feature

When a variable becomes undefined (module removes the variable, defines the variable but does not assign a value, it is mistyped, or the module is disabled and no longer has any variables available), the buttons show '$NA'. It would be great to be able to show something else. Preferably just ''.
