ETC Sensor3 Cem3 Dimmer module.
I wish to have a companion connection for ETC Cem3 preset activation to activate relay presets in our Sensor3 dimmer racks.
This is something I'd love to see as well, so I went looking for the documentation needed. It doesn't seem to be something ETC publishes for the CEM3. Their documentation only states that "Presets can be recalled from the CEM3 or from any compatible Echo preset stations or the web interface" (source, page 28. Echo preset stations operate on their own 2-wire network, and the web interface is just a webpage with no API documentation published. It's possible that ETC could provide additional documentation if you reached out to their support, but this is all I was able to find on their site.
It is also possible that ETC has used the same (or similar) UDP commands specified for their EchoTouch controller (page 33 of this manual), but I have no way of testing this.
If you're actually looking to have a Paradigm processor controlled by Companion, the necessary documentation is here, but it does look like you might also need ETC's dealer-only software LightDesigner to set up the inputs.
Just got off the phone with ETC's tech support - curiosity got me on this one. They had to do a little digging to confirm, but the only way they say you can trigger presets on the CEM3 is via the buttons on the physical face panel, via Echo preset stations, or via the web interface. There's no provision for automating the recall of presets over the network outside of the user interface. It doesn't seem likely that this integration is feasible.
via the web interface
It doesn't seem likely that this integration is feasible.
It wouldn't necessarily be pretty, but if you can do it via the web interface, you should be able to make a Companion module to do it too...
