This project doesn't work on VMs? (Tried ESX, VMware workstation)

This project doesn't work on VMWare VMs (ESX, Workstation), and I assume it wont work on XEN either.

On a UEFI Windows 11: This project will literally brick the machine, will no longer boot. On a MBR Windows 10: At least in this case the system boots, but hypervisor doesn't get activated (hv query says it's not active)

Does this even work in VMs? or just baremetal? If only baremetal, what's the point of this project, as most of the machines in the enterprises are VMs in the real world?
